Easy Steps to Clean Your Dishwasher

Lots of people believe that dishwashers are self-cleaning, or that they don’t need cleaning as each rinse or cycle will wash away dirt and grime. This, unfortunately, isn’t the case, and if you’ve noticed a decline in the quality of the wash that you get from your dishwasher then it might be time for a proper and thoroughly clean! Luckily, it’s easy to clean your dishwasher in the style of professional cleaners – here’s how you can do it using household items!

1)    Get the right supplies.

A clean dishwasher is an efficient dishwasher, and you won’t get the results that you want to see unless you have the right equipment in your cleaning cupboard. For a quick rinse and clean, there are lots of products available on the market, but if you want a thorough and deep cleanse then you just need a few household items. If you don’t already have bicarbonate of soda, bleach and white vinegar in your home then add them to your shopping list for easy dishwasher cleaning!

2)    Getting rid of mould.

Unfortunately, it’s very easy for mould to infect your dishwasher. Check for signs of mould or mildew inside yours, and if you find any evidence then here’s what you need to do! Start by emptying the dishwasher, and then add in a tablespoon of bleach. Run your dishwasher on a full cycle and see the mould and mildew vanish!

3)    Giving your dishwasher a full cleanse.

One of the best and easiest ways to clean your whole dishwasher is to take a mug of white vinegar and place it in your dishwasher. Run a full cycle, and you’ll find the vinegar will thoroughly cleanse your whole dishwasher. White vinegar is an excellent all-natural antibacterial agent that can be used for lots of cleaning purposes. After the wash is done, simply remove the mug and give your dishwasher a thorough wipe to leave it sparklingly clean.

4)    Unclogging your dishwasher jets.

If you’re seeing less-than-perfect results from your dishwasher then you might need to unclog and clean the jets. Start by unplugging your dishwasher, and remove the lower rack so that you can clearly see and reach the sprayer arms. Coat these with a very thick layer of bicarbonate of soda, and completely cover the jet openings in the arms as well. Leave the mixture to sit for around thirty minutes, or longer for particularly stubborn dishwashers. You can now scrub the arms to get rid of muck and mess. Make sure you rinse away any left-over debris by placing a glass or mug of vinegar on a regular wash, as mentioned in the previous step.

5)    Hiring a professional cleaning agency.

If the above methods aren’t giving you the results that you want then you might want to try hiring a cleaning company. Experienced cleaning contractors will be able to offer your domestic cleaning services that will leave your dishwasher looking as good as new, and if you don’t have the time for a thorough cleanse, or if you have any concerns about cleaning your dishwasher yourself, then this can be a fantastic solution. Ask the cleaning companies in your area to find out about their services and prices, but don’t forget to research any company you might hire online, so that you can avoid hiring unreliable cleaning staff!
