Best Spring Cleaning Tips for Your Residential Property

Spring is just one month away – and together with it, you have to make sure the sunny days “catch” your home sparkly clean. While home cleaning may not be fun (and this may also include spring cleaning too), the truth is that you know that it has to be done. Of course, if you can call in professional cleaning contractors, you can save yourself a lot of time – but if you cannot do this, here are some tips to keep in mind for your spring domestic cleaning:

Before you even start your spring house cleaning, make sure you organize everything over a couple of weeks. Sit down and create a list of “to-do” things so that you do everything in a well-planned manner. This will save you time and it will prevent you from forgetting about anything as well. Take every room and think of the things that have to be done there.

1)    Throughout the house, you will most likely need to do the following
•    Vacuum the walls and the ceilings
•    Vacuum the upholstery
•    Vacuum all the floors
•    Polish the furniture
•    Clean the air vents (it is preferable that you call in professional cleaning contractors for your air vents though)
•    Shampoo the carpets
•    Clean the windows
•    Wash the drapes
•    Dust everything
2)     You may have to allow a couple of days to deep clean the kitchen as well. Some of the things you will most probably have to do include:
•    Emptying out and cleaning the refrigerator
•    Emptying out the cupboards and cleaning them (oil/wax them as well if needed)
•    Unclogging the drains
•    Cleaning the refrigerator coil (make sure you unplug it before you do this)
•    Disinfect your trash cans (wash them out thoroughly, dry them off and only then put them back to use)
•    Go through the oven cleaning (make sure you do this thoroughly – it may take some time, but it will be worth it)
3)    In general, bathrooms should be cleaned every week (with a deeper cleaning once a month). However, there may be things you will have to do for the spring cleaning too:
•    Sorting and tossing out all the products that you don’t use any more (either because you don’t like them or because they are expired)
•    Sorting and tossing out your medicine cabinet (if you keep it in the bathroom)
•    Checking if there isn’t any grout in the tiles
4)    If you have a home office, make sure you organize the files properly and that you clean the bookshelves as well
5)    Also, make sure you take care of the living room and bedrooms too. Some of the things you will probably have to do include the following:
•    Flip the mattress and switch to summer bed linens and bedding as well
•    Check the pillows and make sure they haven’t developed mold. If they seem fine, wash them in the washing machine (if you can do that with your type of pillows) and then dry them off completely.
•    Organize your drawers and closets, toss out things you don’t wear or use any more and donate or sell them to a garage sale.
6)    Don’t forget to take care of the areas that are not actually in the house too! Your basement, your attic, your garage and your outdoor area should be properly cleaned as well. Organize your tools and everything you have stored in the basement/attic/garage, clean out everything, vacuum, polish your front lawn and make sure that everything looks nice and tidy so that you can welcome warm weather in grand style!
